Basketball

Basketball is the second most important sport in Mallorca. Officially, the island has 97 indoor and outdoor basketball courts to practice this sport all year long. Almost all sports centres have their own court.

Male and female teams compete in the First Division League.

In Mallorca, basketball has many followers, both in front of TV and in the courts. In Palma, there is a tradition of international tournaments. In 2007, the Eurobasket took place in the city and was held at Palma Arena velodrome. The 35th European Basketball Championships for Men were also held in Palma between the 3rd and the 16th of September. 16 European teams competed in this tournament. After football, basketball is the most popular sport in Mallorca, so the chances of finding a court close to your hotel are pretty high.
