Alaró is a municipality located in Es Pla at the foot of Serra de Tramuntana. It belongs to the district of Raiguer and is bounded by Bunyola, Escorca, Lloseta, Mancor de la Vall, Binissalem, Consell and Santa Maria del Camí. It is 26 km from Palma (via motorway and road).
The municipality of Alcúdia, 54 km from Palma, is located in a peninsula that divides the bays of Alcúdia and Pollença. Situated between these two big bays, this town was once a Roman colony. There, you can still visit the interesting remains of the Roman town of Pollentia. Alcúdia is a heavenly place that hasn’t passed unnoticed by the different ethnic groups and cultures that have lived in this spot since prehistoric times.
Algaida is a municipality located in the southeast of Mallorca. It belongs to the region of Es Pla and is only 22 km from Palma. This municipality is bounded by Sencelles to the north, by Lloret de Vistalegre and Montuïri to the east, by Llucmajor to the south and by Palma and Santa Eugènia to the west. From Palma, you can get to Algaida through the Ma-15.
Andratx has a surface are of 82.55 km² and an average height of 101 metres. It is bounded by Estellencs to the north and by Calvià to the east, while the rest of the territory is bounded by the sea. It is 27 km from Palma. This municipality is located in the most western part of Mallorca, on the southwest end of the mountain range of Serra de Tramuntana.
The municipality of Ariany has a surface area of about 22.72 km² with 853 inhabitants in 1987.
Archaeological findings confirm that people lived in this area in Pretalaiotic times.
The municipality of Artà is on the north of Mallorca. It has a surface area of 140 km² and a coastal area of 25 km. It is a mountainous region. Its highest peak is 562 metres high. It has extensive sand beaches that have not been urbanised. Artà is bounded by Capdepera, Son Servera, Sant Llorenç des Cardessar, Petra and Santa Margalida.
The municipality of Banyalbufar covers an area of 18.1 km² right in Serra de Tramuntana. It is located next to the C-710 road, which connects Pollença and Andratx. This region includes four small mountains. The highest one is Sa Mola de Planícia (942 m) and the smallest one is Sa Talaia, with just 309 m.
Binissalem is a municipality located in the centre of Mallorca. It belongs to the district of Raiguer and has about 7000 inhabitants. Its surface area is 29.8 km² and the population density is 212 inhabitants per km².
The municipality of Búger belongs to Inca’s judicial body. It is located in the district of Es Raiguer and is bounded by Campanet to the northwest, by Selva to the west, by Inca to the southwest and by Sa Pobla to the east
Bunyola is a municipality located in the spurs of Serra de Tramuntana. It is bounded by Palma, Marratxí, Santa Maria, Alaró, Sóller, Escorca, Deià and Valldemossa.
Calvià is located in the western part of the island of Mallorca, next to Serra de Tramuntana, the main mountain in the Balearic Islands, and extends to Serra de Na Burguesa. It has an area of about 145 km². It is bounded by the municipality of Puigpunyent to the north, by Palma to the east, by Andratxt to the west and by the sea to the south.
Campanet is located between the municipalities of Escorca, Búger, Selva, Sa Pobla and Pollença. It has medieval origins and in the 16th century, new areas developed around the hamlet: Carrer Nou, Pexino, Son Massanet, Son Pocos, Son Bordoi and Son Puça.
This municipality located on the south part of Mallorca in the comarca of Migjorn covers an extension of 147.90 km². Nine km² of Campos are on the coast, where you can find the population centres of Ses Covetes, Sa Ràpita, Es Palmer, Sa Sorda, Sa Vinyola and Can Mandana.
The municipality of Capdepera, with a population of 7200 inhabitants and the tourist area of Cala Ratjada, is located on the northeastern part of Mallorca. It is the first spot on the island where the sun rises.
Consell borders the municipalities of Binissalem, Santa Maria del Camí, Sencelles, Santa Eugènia and Alaró, to which this region belonged until 1925.
Located in the comarca of Es Pla, Costitx is a municipality that has lived from agriculture for many centuries. Due to this fundamental activity, you can still find some architectural examples of great interest, such as water wells, waterwheels and windmills, particularly the mill located in Can Loi, which conserves part of the original machinery.
Deià is a small municipality located on the northeast coast of Mallorca, in the mountain range of Serra de Tramuntana, between Valldemossa, Sóller and Bunyola.

The municipality of Escorca is located in the mountain range of Tramuntana, on the north coast. It is the only Mallorcan municipality without an historic population centre, although it is the biggest one in Serra de Tramuntana. It borders the municipalities of Pollença, Campanet, Selva, Mancor de la Vall, Alaró, Bunyola, Sóller, Fornalutx and the sea.
15 km from Palma, the municipality of Esporles is located on the southern slopes of Serra de Tramuntana, between the municipalities of Valldemossa, Palma, Puigpunyent and Banyalbufar. Apart from the population centre of Esporles (village), it is important to highlight the areas of S’Esglaieta and the residential areas of Es Verger and Ses Rogetes.
The municipality of Felanitx is the fourth biggest one in Mallorca. It has a population of over 15000 inhabitants.
Fornalutx is a small village located in the Valley of Sóller. It is bounded by Sóller and by the municipality of Escorca.
Inca is the capital of Es Raiguer district, in the middle of Mallorca. It is located between the municipalities of Selva, Búger, Sa Pobla, Llubí, Sineu, Costitx, Sencelles, Binissalem, Lloseta and Mancor de la Vall, about 29 km from Palma. It has a population of 25000 people and is the nerve centre in term of agricultural and cattle farming on the island. It has been a city since 1900.
Located in the district of Es Pla, Lloret de Vistalegre is a small agricultural village that gained independence from Sineu in 1924.
This municipality is bounded by Alaró, Mancor de la Valle, Selva, Inca and Binissalem. It is connected by road with Inca, Alaró, Biniamar and Binissalem. It has a population of 6500 inhabitants.
Municipality located in Es Pla between the municipalities of Santa Margalida, Maria de la Salut, Sineu, Inca, Sa Pobla and Muro. It has an area of 34.72 km² and a population of 2000 inhabitants.
Llucmajor is the biggest municipality in Mallorca. It borders Palma, Algaida, Montuïri, Porreres and Campos, and has important tourist areas such as Cala Pi, Cala Blava and S’Arenal, on the eastern part of Platja de Palma. This municipality contains mountain areas, cultivated land with dry-land crops, cliffs and beaches.
The municipality of Manacor is located on the east of Mallorca. It is the capital of the comarca of Llevant as well as the administrative centre of this area. With a population of 40000 people, it is the third most important municipality on the island and the fourth in terms of extension.
It has an extension of 19 km² and is bounded by Selva, Inca, Lloseta, Alaró and Escorca. Its main population centre is located in a small valley surrounded by mountains. Mancor de la Vall connects by road with Inca, Biniamar and Caimari.
This municipality is located in Es Pla and is bounded by Santa Margalida to the north, by Ariany to the east and south, by Sineu to the southwest, by Llubí to the west and by Muro to the northwest. It covers an extension of 30.3 km² and has a population of 1781 inhabitants.
This municipality is composed of several population centres: Marratxinet, Pont d’Inca, Pla de na Tesa, Sa Cabaneta, Pòrtol, Es Caulls and several more. Four of them have their own church: Sa Cabaneta (San Marcial), Es Pont d’Inca (San Alonso Rodríguez), Es Pla de na Tesa (San Lázaro) and Pòrtol (Nostra Senyora del Carme).
Montuïri is a municipality located in central Mallorca. It has an extension of 40.39 km² and a population of 2191 inhabitants. The village lies on a small hill (178 metres) and is located on one side of the Palma – Manacor motorway.
Muro is an important municipality located on the north part of Mallorca. It has two population centres: Muro and Platja de Muro (5.5 km long). Muro is bounded by Santa Margalida to the southeast, by Maria de la Salut to the south, by Llubí to the southwest, by Sa Pobla to the west, by Alcúdia to the north and by the sea to the northwest.
The municipality of Petra has a surface area of 70.13 km². It is located 44 km from Palma via the motorway that connects the capital with Manacor. It borders the municipalities of Villafranca de Bonany, Sant Joan, Sineu, Ariany, Santa Margalida, Artà, Sant Llorenç de Cardessar and Manacor. It has a population of 2500 inhabitants.
Pollença is a municipality located on the north part of Mallorca. It is bounded by the municipalities of Alcúdia, Sa Pobla, Campanet and Escorca, as well as by the sea to the north. It has an extension of 146.03 km², being the sixth biggest municipality in Mallorca. Pollença has 15000 inhabitants, ranking eighth in population. The village is located inland, while the beautiful Cala Sant Vicenç and the elegant Port de Pollença are on the coast.
Porreres is a municipality located on the south-central area of Mallorca. It belongs to the comarca of Es Pla and borders the municipalities of Felanitx, Campos, Llucmajor, Montuïri, Sant Joan and Vilafranca de Bonany. It has an extension of 85.63 km² and a population of 4364 inhabitants. More than 1000 hectares of municipal land are part of the Massís de Randa nature area of special interest.
Puigpunyent is a municipality with an extension of 42.3 km2 located 12 km from Palma. It borders the municipalities of Calvià, Palma, Esporles, Banyalbufar and Estellencs.
This municipality has housed since prehistoric times all the different cultures that settled in Mallorca as a result of several military, social and economic dominations.
Sa Pobla is a municipality located on the northwest of Mallorca. It is bounded by Muro, Llubí, Inca, Búger, Campanet, Pollença, and Alcúdia to the northwest. It has an extension of 48.53 km² and a population around 11000 inhabitants. It is connected with Palma via motorway.
Located in the centre of the island, Sant Joan, previously known as “Sant Joan de Sineu”, was founded in 1300. It borders the municipalities of Petra, Villafranca de Bonany, Porreres, Montuiri, Lloret de Vistalegre and Sineu and has a population of 2000 inhabitants.
Sant Llorenç des Cardessar has an extension of 82 km² and a population of 5000 inhabitants. It is located on the east of Mallorca, between Manacor, Son Servera and Artà. This municipality belongs to the district of South Llevant, along with Manacor, Son Servera, Capdepera, Artà, Felanitx, Ses Salines, Campos and Santanyí
This municipality borders Sencelles, Algaida, Palma, Santa Maria del Camí and Consell. It has an extension of 20.48 km² and a population of 1000 inhabitants. It is part of the district of Es Pla and its lands are mainly flat, with beautiful places of high landscape interest, such as Puig de Santa Eugènia and Puig de Son Seguí (320 m), which is covered with forest.
Santa Margalida is a municipality located on the northeast of Mallorca. It is bounded by
Artà, Petra, Ariany, Maria de la Salut, Llubí, Muro and by the sea to the northeast. It has an area of 84.79 km² and a population of 5858 inhabitants. This municipality covers a coastal area of 9 km, although the village is located inland.
Santa Maria del Camí is located in the district of Es Pla. It borders the municipalities of Consell, Santa Eugènia, Palma, Marratxí, Bunyola and Alaró. It has an extension of 37.93 km² and a population of 4500 inhabitants. It covers three different areas, two in the mountains and one in a plain.
This municipality is located on the southeast of Mallorca. It is bounded by Ses Salines, Campos, Felanitx, and by the sea to the east. It has an area of 126.39 km² and a population of 12000 inhabitants. Its coast is about 35 km long. There, you can find some of the best virgin beaches in Mallorca and the Mondragó Natural Park.
Selva is a municipality located 32 km from Palma, in the district of Raiger. It is bounded by Inca. It consists of five population centres: Selva, Caimari, Moscari, Binibona and Biniamar. It has a population of 3500 inhabitants and has a surface of over 2000 ha qualified as a Natural Area of Special Interest. This region keeps its country landscape intact.

Ses Salines is a municipality located in the comarca of Migjorn, on the southwest end of the island. It is bounded by Campos and Santanyí. Apart from the village of Ses Salines (where the Town Hall is), the coastal tourist resort of Sa Colònia de Sant Jordi also belongs to this municipality.
The municipality of Sineu is located right in the middle of Mallorca. It has an area of 47.74 km² and a population of about 3000 inhabitants. It borders the municipalities of Costitx, Inca, Llubí, Maria de la Salut, Ariany, Petra, Sant Joan and Lloret de Vistalegre.
Sóller is a municipality located in Serra de Tramuntana. It is bounded by Fornalutx, Escorca, Bunyola, Deià and by the sea to the west. It has an extension of 42.56 km² and a population of 10000 inhabitants. The town of Sóller is located in a beautiful valley, surrounded by the highest mountains in Mallorca. It is one of the most unique places on the island due to its natural isolation and the beauty of its landscapes. In 1912 the valley of Sóller was connected to the rest of Mallorca thanks to the inauguration of the railway services, which since then link the valley with Palma. Today, a tunnel also connects the valley and the city.
Initially, the village of Son Servera, located on the northeast of Mallorca and close to the sea, was a small village that belonged to Artà. In less than fifty years, this small and rural population centre has grown into an important municipality highly influenced by the tourist industry. It is located between the municipalities of Capdepera, Artà and Sant Llorenç des Cardassar and has a coastal area of 7 km.
This small village on the northwest coast of Mallorca is an important reference point at a tourist, environmental and cultural level. It has a few important tourist attractions and constitutes the starting point of many hiking routes in Serra de Tramuntana. The village is located 400 metres above sea level and is 15 km from Palma. There are bus services that depart daily from Palma and connect Valldemossa with Deià and Sóller.
