Bunyola
Bunyola is a municipality located in the spurs of Serra de Tramuntana. It is bounded by Palma, Marratxí, Santa Maria, Alaró, Sóller, Escorca, Deià and Valldemossa.
It is a municipality of many geographical contrasts. It has mountains higher than 1000 m in Serra d’Alfàbia, while its lower part does not even reach 100 m. The ravines of Coanegre (or Es Freu) and Buynola, which flows into Torrent Gros in Palma, are the main beds in this municipality.
Buynola has one of the biggest forests in Mallorca: Sa Comuna. This municipal forest has an extension of 716 ha and is located between Bunyola and Orient. There, you can practice all kind of activities, such as hiking and climbing, especially in Penyal d’Honor, where you can find the Cave of Son Creus, which is great for potholing lovers.
As the village is located close to Palma (only 20 km), it has several adjacent residential areas, including Palmanyola, Coma-Puig Verd or Sa Font Seca, which have become an extension of the city.
