Lloseta

Lloseta this municipality is bounded by Alaró, Mancor de la Valle, Selva, Inca and Binissalem. It is connected by road with Inca, Alaró, Biniamar and Binissalem. It has a population of 6500 inhabitants.

It is located in the Raiguer district. The forest area of this municipality is over 25% of the total area and contains huge pine and Holm oak forests.

As in many other places, in Lloseta there are plenty of prehistoric archaeological remains.

The story tells that in 1634, King Philip III gave the Lords of Togores the title of counts of Aiamans and barons of Lloseta in order to compensate them for their support, entitling them to administer civil and criminal justice all over the municipality of Aiamans. The population centre of Aiamans owes its name to Diana Manes, a hypothetical Roman temple dedicated to the goddess Diana.

In 1842, Lloseta became independent of Binissalem. In 1875, the railway line was installed, which originated an important economic boost.

Lloseta is an agricultural municipality that was considerably influenced by Inca’s footwear industry. The mining activity was also important and lasted until 1973, when the lignite mines of Sa Trullola, Sant Tomàs y Can Ramis shut down. This municipality has also a cement factory.

Between the church and the Palace of Aiamans there is a hotel called Cas Comte Petit Hotel & Spa. In the past, it used to be the servants’ quarters of the counts of Aiamans.
