Coves del Drach
One of the most famous visits in Mallorca is the Coves del Drach (literally “Dragon Caves”) in Porto Cristo, within the municipality of Manacor. These caves where discovered in 1898 and today, many people visit them thanks to its multilingual routes, which are one hour long.
They consist of 2000 metres of coves and six underground lakes. Observing the illuminated stalactite and stalagmite clusters is an amazing spectacle. Inside the caves, there is a big underground lake called Lake Martel, which has been classified as one of the biggest underground lakes in the world.
On this lake there are daily performances of classical music. It is the peak moment of the tour. Musicians perform classical pieces from the boats located in this large underground lake.
You can cross the lake by boat before exiting the caves.
The first visit starts at 10 am in summer and at 10:45 am in winter. The current ticket price is 11.50 €. Children under 8 years old can enter for free.
