How to move around
Mallorca has a modern road network that connects all municipalities and coastal areas. If you want to travel the island, go to your hotel, go on an excursion or practice any sport in specific facilities, three motorways will make your journey a lot easier.
The most habitual way to move around the island is by private or rental car, but also by public transport. If you prefer the latter, you will find all the information you need on the Transports of the Balearic Islands (TIB) website.
Since 2007, Palma has an underground line that connects Plaça d’Espanya in Palma with the industrial park of Son Castelló and the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB).
With the TIB (Balearic Island Transport) Palma is linked to the rest of the island.
The buses will allow you to move around Palma and discover different touristic areas in Mallorca.
Moving around Mallorca by train is an alternative for those who think safety and comfort come first. The train in Mallorca is becoming more and more popular and the Government has put its faith in this means of transport. It is an alternative travel format that allows you to see Mallorca from a different perspective, since you discover landscapes that can only be seen from the SFM trains or from the Train of Sóller.
Mallorca has a taxi network that allows you to travel quickly to anywhere on the island. It allows you to plan your trips in an easy and comfortable way.
The car, motorbike and van rental opportunities are very diverse. Nevertheless, in July and August it is convenient to book in advance.
To discover Mallorca on a motorbike is an entire new experience. It offers you an interesting point of view. Colours, smells, meteorology, adventure and freedom combine perfectly with each other when driving a small, medium or big motorbike.
Two hours away by plane from the main European cities, Mallorca is an extraordinary alternative for sailing lovers.
If you plan your trip to Mallorca on your own, that is, without a fixed tourist package, you will find many ways and solutions to plan your vacations or your stay on the island the way you want.
To get around Mallorca you need a means of transport, a few maps, some money or credit cards, your identity card or passport, your health insurance and little more.
